In October 2013 Ouellette received the My Cities My Brand "Founder's Award" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was a panelist and speaker at Vancouver's Globe2012.
He advised global leaders on the financial and social benefits of smart building retrofits at Think Green Global Forum in Nanjing, China.
In 2009 he was invited by Canada's Parliament to present his views on Bill C-300. In 2006, he spoke at the U.N.’s Sustainable Cities conference. The National Post nominated Robert for a National Newspaper Award, Canada's Pulitzer. A recipient of the City of Toronto's Urban Design Award, he is the former Director of the University of Toronto's Information Technology Design Centre. A Gold Medalist in Architecture, he also holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business and is a member of the Information Architects Institute.
